Learning to Listen
Jan Fennell - Dog Listening
'A dog convinced against its will, is of the same opinion still.'
When we tap into the correct way of thinking, there’s a world of opportunity to help us teach our dogs get it right without using fear, force, dominance or any gadgets invented by humans.
This method is about learning the language of the dog, so that we can demonstrate that we have got what it takes to have the responsibility and they don't need to stress or worry about us in a world they don't understand. Using this method consistently with my own dog and many others I have seen remarkable results.
I truly believe that this simple method of working with a dog makes absolute sense and enables us to truly live in harmony with our beloved pets.
In the past, I have taken the traditional obedience training with my own dogs. On reflection, I now realise, that approach seems to plaster over the root causes of why our dogs display certain behaviours. Dog Listening is a holistic approach which deals with the cause not the effect. This method will work with any non-medical behaviour issue, and I’m excited to teach this approach with my clients and their furry friends.
I have followed Jan Fennell and her proven methods of understanding the inner workings of dogs’ minds and how to live in harmony with our beloved pets. Her methods ensure that dogs live a stress free life and, by making a few changes consistently, they willingly follow you because they have confidence in you.
Jan Fennell's work is based on over 30 years research. After working with Monty Roberts: 'The horse whisperer', she studied wolf packs in Yellow Stone Park and developed her approach which is now known worldwide. For me, this method makes perfect sense, and in my experience to date: it works!
Rescue dogs, puppies, any breed - I would love to help you understand your dog and learn to communicate in a way your dog fully understands.

I may be able to solve your problem or concern over the phone so please call me for a free phone consultation and action plan.
If we both agree you need further support my best value package includes:
1:1 consultation either as a visit or video call- 3/4 hours
Detailed easy to follow action plan
x6 1hour follow up's with detailed notes
Accompanied walk with your dog
Tool Kit - progress tracking, Dog Diary and quiz
Access to my private Learning to Listen Facebook group.
Life time of support and back up.
The consultation will take place in your own home and the dog’s natural environment or via Zoom. The session will last approximately 3- 4 hours, but I will stay until you feel comfortable and confident with the method (so give yourselves plenty of time.) Together we will create an action plan that will give simple, clear guidelines to follow every day.
It’s easier if all members of your family who live with your dogs are there, this enables everyone to ask questions and follow that same routine.
Children under 10 years are not required to sit in for the whole consultation I’m happy for parents to teach their own children. However I am a qualified teacher and can tailor the session to be child friendly, it is very important for children to fully understand the method so it can be delivered consistently by the whole family.
I teach you what your dog already knows, what it’s doing and why. I will help you understand why your dog does what it does then offer a solution to resolve the breakdown in communication. Information out of context is often at the core of the issue. Getting everything in the right context offers us the ability to understand our dogs and get it right for them to respond positively to our requests.
Along with the consultation you will receive a life time of back up and access to my private Dog Listening group that provides you with daily reminders and advice to help you in your journey with your doggy.
